This 50 item analogies test has no specific time limit, but you should complete it in one undisturbed session. Answer each question, even if it means guessing. When you have checked off all of your answers and are finished, hit the "Score" button at the end of the test. You will then be told your score, and which problems you missed. You will also find the answers to all of the problems and a ranking scale, which includes a list of high IQ societies that accept a similar test for admissions and with what scores, and instructions on how to compare your score on the Chimera Analogies Test with that scale. This will give you an estimated IQ score, as well as give you an idea of which high IQ societies you might qualify for.

For each analogy, click the space next to the answer that best completes the problem. The analogies take the form of W : X :: Y : Z, which means the same as W is to X as Y is to Z.

Example:

up : down :: top :

A. down B. bottom C. under D. over E. behind F. around

The answer is B.

In some cases the relationship is better expressed in the format A : B :: C : D when it works out to be A is to C as B is to D.

Example:

hair : eye :: spray :

A. ball B. ear C. glasses D. muscles E. color F. liner

The best answer would be F. Hairspray and eyeliner are both cosmetic items of sorts, making F a better choice than A, C, D or E, which would seem to work, but are not the BEST choice.

So in looking at A : B :: C : D, A is to C as B is to D might work, or A is to B as C is to D. Try both, and see which one makes sense. However, A is to D as B is to C is NEVER correct.

Some of the analogies will be harder than these examples. Several problems use words and names that you may not be familiar with. Do your best to reason out what the answer is, and guess if you are still not sure. The analogies are in no specific order of difficulty. YOU MAY NOT USE BOOKS OR OTHER REFERENCE AIDS, AND DO NOT CONSULT OTHER PEOPLE! Do not read any further until you are ready to begin the test. Good luck!
